Method 1: Reboot your Phone

The most common method to fix the Google Play Store Error 491 is to reboot the android device. This methods fixes the error in most cases, however if this couldn’t fix the error in your case, please follow the next method.

Method 2: Clear Cache for Google Play Store and Google Play Services

The second most common method to fix the Google Play Error 491 is to clear caches for Google Play Store and Google Play Services. Here’s how you can clear caches for both the apps:

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Application Manager > Google Play Store / Google Play Services

Method 3: Remove your Google Account, Reboot and Re Add your Google Account.

The third most common fix for the Google Play Error 491 is to remove your Google Account, reboot your phone and then Re add your Google account once again. This method should certainly help you with fixing the Google play error 491, as it has helped many others to fix the same error. Here’s How you can remove the Google account on your Android phone.

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Google and remove the account associated with Google play.

You should only try this method as a last resort if all the above methods fail to fix the Google Play Error 491. This method can only be performed if you have installed a custom recovery on your phone such as Clockworkmod. Follow the instructions below to wipe the Dalvik Cache of your Android device.

  • Step 1: Reboot into recovery
  • Step 2: Wipe cache partition
  • Step 3: Go to Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
  • Step 4: Now go back and Reboot system
  • Step 5: Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.

Note: Last but not the least, the Google Play Error 491 can also be caused due to the interference of third party android apps such as Clean master. Make sure you never clear caches of Google Play Store and Google Play Services while using clean master to avoid the Google Play Error 491.
