How to View the Cached Page of any URL or Website

The internet is constantly evolving and this forces most websites to adopt the latest changes. In this constant evolution many websites rise up to become popular and some unfortunately can’t cope up with the constant changes and cease to exist.

When a website goes offline, it cannot be accessed directly through the URL address. However thanks to many website catching service such as Google’s cache viewer and the Wayback Machine, you can always view how a website looked before it went offline.

These services are maintained free of cost and they regularly create caches pages and store it in their archives. So if you ever get into a situation when the site which you want to access is offline, you can access the cached web page of the site instead and get hold of the information you were looking for.

Among the two popular website caching services, Google’s cache service only store the latest version of a webpage, whereas the Wayback Machine stores multiple cache pages of an website which ranges from the day of a website’s inception till its end.

Here’s how you can use both the free website changing services to view the cached pages of an website or they way it looked at a previous time.

Using Google’s Cache to view Cached page of an Website

Copy and paste the following URl address in any web browser and replace Website URL with the URL address of the webpage you want to view :

Http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:<Website URL>

Alternatively if you are using Google Chrome, then you can directly type in Cache:<Website URL> into the URL address bar and press enter to view the cached page of the website.

Using the Wayback Machine to view Cached page of an Websites

Head over to http://archive.org/web/ and enter the URL address of the website or webpage you want to view. Next you will be able to view a calendar wise entry of when the web page or URL address was cached. Click on any of the highlighted dates and you will be able to view the cached page of the website on that day.
