Most facebook users can view unread messages from their friends under the Recent messages tab. While messages from other users who are not not connected with you, but are connected with people in your friendlist will always appear in the Message requests folder just besides the recent messages tab. So message requests usually stores all the messages from people you might know.
Facebook is selling your Browser Data Here’s how to Opt Out.
This was how you could view unread messages sometimes back. In a recent update, Facebook has silently added a third inbox folder which is sort of an extension to the second inbox i.e Message requests. This new hidden inbox extension stores all the messages from people who are not connected with you or the people in your friendlist. So basically, Facebook filters all the messages that it thinks to be spam into this inbox extension.
While this might seem as a good move from Facebook. But in reality this has outraged many basic Facebook users. Simply because, the fact that there is a hidden inbox might not go well with all, when you think about all the messages and opportunities that one might have missed on.
So naturally, when people began to discover about the hidden inbox extension, they were outraged to see all the important messages that they had missed on during the past year. Same was the case with me. 90% of the messages that were filtered in the hidden inbox were from real people who were trying to contact me. I feel sorry for not responding to their messages, but it’s too late to do that now.
But it’s better late than never. Now that you know about the hidden inbox extension, you can keep an eye on it, so you don’t miss on any more messages and opportunities in the future. Here’s how you can view the hidden message requests extension on Facebook for Web, Android and iOS.
